Another book that has survived from my childhood to adulthood- this encyclopedia does its job but has only a few minor problems. As a kid and even today as an older adult- some of the illustrations aren't that well done but others are just epic and higher quality. Some of the pages are hit and miss with information or art. It even gives a page purely dedicated to crazy speculations over extinction events throughout history (one such example is someone apparently wondered if aliens took show more dinosaurs away as a food source). I think this serves as a decent introduction to dinosaurs, but shouldn't be used as a definitive source for modern-fact information given all the new discoveries 22 years after this book was published. It seems more geared towards younger audiences than adults- but adults can still enjoy this encyclopedia style book. show less

What did athletes wear at the original Olympics? Which horse had a city named after him? Did Romans eat chips? Find out the answers to these crazy questions in Paul Mason's fun book about history. The book is filled with funny illustrations and asks questions about a wide range of historical events. The questions range geographically from South America to Japan, and historically from ancient times to World War II. Great for any school-aged child who enjoys history or fun facts about the show more world.

An interesting biography of Galileo. Contains some material that I (as a mother) had to skip over in reading it to children. The illustrations are helpful, as well as the side boxes. We learned a lot about Galileo and his times.
Paul Mason has indeed found 25 Fun Things to Do Outside! The younger kids may need adult supervision for some of the activities. The older ones may need permission. I love getting everyone outside!
