The sportsman's guide to swamp camping : for your fuller enjoyment of fishing, hunting, backpacking, canoeing, and boating by J. Wayne Fears
An enjoyable excursion into the non-traditional area of 'swamp' camping. Yes, literally in a swamp. I'm still not certain I would want to hang out that closely with mosquitoes (the whine gives me migraines) or leeches, but to each his own.
My biggest quibble is the author's use of the word 'poisonous' where he means 'venomous'.
If you eat it and it makes you sick or makes you die--it's poisonous.
If it bites or stabs you and makes you ill or makes you die--it's venomous.
I'm not certain how show more practical swamp camping is nowadays--I suspect that many 'swamps' are considered wetlands and people are probably highly discouraged from camping in them. show less

How to Build Your Dream Cabin in the Woods: The Ultimate Guide to Building and Maintaining a Backcountry Getaway by J. Wayne Fears
When you’re ready to go off grid, you could do a lot worse than consult J. Wayne Fear’s practical and interesting guidebook. He does a thorough job of covering the important factors to consider when investing in property, but tailors the book beautifully to the back country get-away. Very detailed, but also accessible and engaging.

How to Build Your Dream Cabin in the Woods: The Ultimate Guide to Building and Maintaining a Backcountry Getaway by J. Wayne Fears
Surprisingly limited in scope and recommendations. Very mainline, little alternative considerations.
