Another fun offering from Kerry Lee MacLean. The piggies go through many emotions and experiences of childhood and of us all, and they keep or learn to cultivate their peaceful place. It contains helpful little hints and tips about meditation that can be applied to anyone's practice or daily life.
This book is enhanced with a one page Peaceful Piggy Meditation and another page on the Mind-in-a-Jar Experiment that first appears in Moody Cow Meditates. Fun and accessible for all, highly show more recommended. show less

We love her other book Moody Cow Meditates with its look at the mind, the exercise of making a Mind Jar and some hints for meditation for children. This book is curious. The illustrations are fun, and the boy has great interactive pull-out-thoughts. All the types of thoughts all our minds have: happy, angry, scary, loving. Does a nice job of portraying these and showing them as normal. I felt the book fell short in the what to do with the thoughts. It makes a nice addition to Moody Cow, but show more if I could only have one book in this series, I'd choose Moody Cow Meditates. show less
Ah, good, a picture book about meditation -- I was looking for one of these. Not so much a story, per say, as a gentle walk through and explanation. Nicely illustrated, nicely done.
This is a good, very basic description of yoga for young children. But it is not something that could or should be constructively used to learn poses. The illustrations, although very cute, do not have enough detail to show children proper foot and body placement. And this is important in yoga, especially for beginners.
Speaking of beginners, there are a few poses that are unrealistic for absolute beginners. The tree pose and the hand-toe pose are difficult. Not all children are limber and show more strong. Trying these moves and failing could cause enough frustration to make them give up. And as a mom, I don't think I'd want my child trying the candlestick until or unless I was certain they had decent core muscles and passable balance. show less
