Short biography
Mabel Lang was a revered professor of classical Greek at Bryn Mawr, where she taught for 45 years. She was Katharine E. McBride Professor Emeritus and Paul Shorey Professor Emeritus of Greek at her death at age 92. She also was renowned for her scholarship and was a prolific author of books and articles on classical Greek law and culture. She excavated at the Acropolis and the Agora in Athens and contributed to the deciphering of the Mycenaen Linear B tablets at Pylos.
