Megan is stretched too thin: she is meant to be directing a play, but her mother, who is forced to work late, has a conflicting task for Megan. Upset, Megan flees to the Magic Attic, where she tries on an outfit suited for a princess and finds herself transported to a medieval village where she is herself a princess.

All is not well for Princess Megan, either: a unicorn is to be killed, and there seems to be no way to save it. Somehow, Megan must save the unicorn and resolve her own dispute show more with her mother.

The usual device in a book like this is to draw a connection between the problems in the fantastic world and the real world, so that a lesson learned in the one applies in the other. This book doesn't really do that. It just tells two stories, and both get resolved, and the only connection between them that I can see is that a solution was possible for each.

Well enough written, this book is probably fine for the intended audience (ages 6 and up), but is too simple to be of much interest to older readers.

Cowgirl Megan was a very adventurous book as it went back in time so that Megan can help a blind girl convince her dad to let her ride. I really like Trisha Magraw's writing because it draws you into the book itself. Rating - 4 stars due to good plot and excellent characterization
the first magic attic club book that i read. a very good tale , like a fairy tale with a princess insteade of a fairy!!!
Megan fights with her mom, and goes to the attic to escape her problems for a while. The attic takes her to medieval France, where people believe her to be a princess. She discovers that life there is much more difficult, and she saves a unicorn. When she gets back, she works with her mom to find a solution to their dilemma.
