Lonely souls is a spooky paranormal romance that I was caught up in from the first chapter. When Triss’s mother goes missing and her coven holds a memorial service for her instead of trying to find out what happened, Triss must find the answers for herself and begins a journey of unlocking dark family secrets with the help of her childhood friend Logan.
There is lots of buildup in the relationship between Logan and Triss, I loved how so much of the novel was devoted to the love story and show more not just the paranormal mystery. The characters are well-developed and likeable. Triss has an internal battle going on between her increasing feelings for Logan and the priority of finding out what happened to her mom.
The descriptions are well done and make you feel, smell, and picture each and every scene in the book. The only slightly negative comment I have is that after the first couple chapters the pace of the book drops off a bit doesn't pick up again until the halfway point, but the intensity of the last couple chapters definitely make up for this. I highly recommend this book for any young adult romance or paranormal reader! Oh, and I loved the cover and how it related to an actual scene in the book! show less

Awakening is the first part of The Watcher’s Trilogy where we meet a young woman named Ana. She works as a waitress in a resort town, but has no knowledge of her past accept a handful of newspaper clippings. Ana is frequented with disturbing nightmares that haunt her, no, torment her to no end. She knows not why these dreams occur until Athen enters into her life.
Athen, nor his show more family, are what they seem to be, and Ana quickly learns that she is a part of their world: the underworld. Athen has been searching for his lost soul-mate, Ana, since the demons erased her memory back in the 40′s. Our main character struggles with this new-found knowledge that shakes her very core, and sends her into the realization that her nightmares are a reality. However, she is surrounded by love, friendship and most of all a family that would die for her. But can Ana learn to be a white demon again before it’s too late? Will the Awakening process work, thus reuniting Athen and Ana again?
I’ll be honest here folks. I wasn’t entirely sure about this book when I realized it was about demons/Fallen Angels, and an intricate force of good versus evil with a race that is supposed to be damned by God. These characters – Ana, Athen and the rest – are the children of Angels that fell in love with human women. As punishment God forbid entry to heaven to the Angels that fell as well as their children, but what made the story unique was that not all the angels or children are evil.
This doesn’t stop the race of white demons from doing good deeds, and helping to guide the human race to live their lives righteously. When the black demons/Nephilim interfere or try to cause turmoil, the white demons are there to do what they can to defeat them. It is just an entirely new side for me in literature; however, it was an incredible story.
Karice Bolton didn’t leave a stone unturned or question unanswered. She backed up every part of her story’s world, crossed the T’s and dotted the I’s. Every part of the story was perfect, engaging and addicting. Once I started I couldn’t put it down, and when I was done reading I found myself purchasing the next book in the series. I’ve only braked to write up this review, and then guess what? I’ll be jumping into the next book. show less

Triss and Logan are still at it, and I love every bit of what makes them, them. I wonder if they will ever be able to take a breath and really get to enjoy the love they have, or if they'll be forever cursed with their stolen moments. Still, I can relate. while i may not have dark and evil witches to dodge, I have kids and they love to interrupt and ruin :)
I really loved the changes we see in Triss. She grows more, I think, in this book than we have seen before. The inner battle of dark vs show more grey magic really comes through. Logan is by her side through it all, even when she fights with herself over the best course of action. Even with everything that has happened in the past, he remains the rock that she fears losing more than herself. So what happens when it is Logan whose life hangs by a thread?
I love reading along with Karice's books. As her characters and stories progress, you just get sucked in. Escaping into her stories is quickly becoming a favorite pastime as I've now read her works for over a year, and I'll continue to read as long as she writes. show less

Cataclysm is the final book in The Watchers Trilogy, and I am a little sad to see it is over. It's a strange thing when I read a series I feel like I get to know the characters personally. Once the series is completed it’s like bidding farewell to friends of mine, I always hate saying goodbye. Maybe one day when the story has faded from my mind I can pick this series back up and hang out with Athen, Ana, Cyril, Arie, and Matilda once again.
So now that I have finished the trilogy I can say show more without a shadow of a doubt Cataclysm was my favorite book out of the three in The Watchers Trilogy. This book was LOADED with action, I was blown away. In Legions and Awakening you get some action, but nothing that compares to the battle that rages on inside the pages of Cataclysm. It took me a mere day to read this book, because I was so into the story. As a reader you are reading this book knowing the final battle is coming, everything that has been happening all comes down to this book. The epic battle between good and evil is coming to an end. *signs* I ate it up!
Ana's character really has developed in this book, she has become this warrior that is first to leap into battle. When I say she leaps into battle I don't mean some chick fight she is throwing down with knives, and fighting with all her rage. Now it is odd to say Ana has developed because has she developed or is she becoming the Ana she once was before she had to be Awakened? This was just a little question running through my mind as I was reading. I think heard a prequel is in the works, and I am excited to read about Ana before the Awakening to see if her character was always this epic or if in this book she was just sent over the edge.
Now Ana did develop in the ring with the demons, but I kind of wanted her and Athen to have a bit of a fight. The relationship between the couple is incredibly perfect, almost too perfect. When the two would interact Ana would be worried Athen would be mad, but he never would. I wanted a little passionate fight between the two of them. To be honest this is kind of the same with Cyril and Arie and all too perfect love. Even the most perfect relationships have fights, and I think it would have added to the love they have.
Oddly enough the break out stars in this book for me are Noah and Vanessa. This is a love and loss story that seemed to steal my heart. Now you won't have a clue who I am talking about until you read the final book, and I want to maintain a spoiler free review so I won't tell you. I would LOVE to read a story strictly based on the romance and demise of the relationship between Noah and Vanessa. I literally got choked up.
This book is a YA so I recommend this entire series to to YA readers. The characters are older I believe twenties, so I think this will also appeal to adults that are content with a clean read. show less
