One Wrong Move completely sucked me in! It has all the makings of a great romantic suspense: intriguing/cutthroat criminals, riddles, art gallery heists, endearing yet complex characters, edge of your seat suspense, sizzling but clean romance, and a touch of faith. I was completely invested in the romances, figuring out the mysteries, and seeing the bad guys get their dues.

Miranda “Andi” Forester was a talented FBI forensic analyst until an allegation of mishandling evidence destroyed show more her career. She insists she’s innocent, but with no evidence to back up her claims, she was forced to leave and become an insurance fraud investigator. Her latest case involves an art theft at a pricey gallery in New Mexico. While investigating, she meets Christian O’Brady, a security expert who designed the security system for the gallery. Is he responsible for the thefts, or is there someone out to entrap him? Then there are the mysterious riddles Andi begins receiving.

It’s a race against time as more galleries are robbed and their lives are constantly threatened as Andi’s past and her current investigation collide. With her growing feelings and attraction to Christian, can she trust him despite his sordid past? Will they survive whoever is out to get them?

Along with Andi and Christian are Christian’s brother, private investigator Deckard MacLeod, and Andi’s best friend Harper, who’s a forensic botanist. These two are assisting in investigating the art theft as well as the past allegations against Andi. Just like Andi and Christian, Deckard & Harper have a spark between them, but Deckard’s troubled past and Harper’s upcoming overseas mission seem to make a relationship between them impossible. As they all work to uncover the truth, they must rely on each other to survive.

I literally read this book in a day! It was so hard to put down. There’s a whole slew of characters to keep track of, but I found as the story progressed, it became easier to distinguish between them. I loved how both romances developed. While Christian’s and Andi’s relationship was the main focus, I can’t wait to see what’ll happen between Deck & Harper.

The suspense was intense with one action filled sequence after another. There are several bad guys and I enjoyed trying to figure out who did what and put all the puzzle pieces together. I loved the MacLeod ranch and meeting Riley and Greyson. I also enjoyed the bits of humor and faith interspersed between all the action.

Definitely a must read that’s impossible to put down! Highly recommend to Christian romantic suspense fans. Looking forward to the next book in the series. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own and voluntarily provided.

Wow! Buckle up because this novella will take you on a rollercoaster of a ride with swoon worthy romance, heart palpitating action, mystery, and a redemption story that’ll tug on your heartstrings. I loved Logan and Emmy and soon became invested in their burgeoning romance. The mystery was complex and full of twists and turns. Also loved the New Mexico setting.

Logan Perry is a special agent with the Coast Guard Investigative Service. He’s been in love with Emmy for awhile but doubts show more he’s worthy of her, especially with his past. When he learns that his grandfather was found murdered in the small New Mexico town he grew up in, he immediately makes plans to leave and Emmy jumps at the chance to go with him.

As they investigate his grandfather’s murder, they learn that a young woman who he’d taken in is missing along with several meaningful items. Was she responsible for his death or is she part of a bigger conspiracy? Emmy has feelings for Logan but worries about sharing them when he’s dealing with his grief. She also senses he’s holding something back. Will they let down their guards or remain only colleagues?

I can’t believe this is the first book I’ve read by Dani Pettrey! It was so well written that despite only being 200 pages, it felt more like a full length novel. Even though I hadn’t read the previous books in the series, I was easily drawn in to the story.

Emmy and Logan’s romance was so good! They work extremely well together. Logan just needed that little push to reveal his feelings and holy cow, he doesn’t hold back. I loved the way he opened up to Emmy about his troubled childhood and my heart ached for what he went through.

The mystery kept me guessing, with suspense filled action that kept me on the edge of my seat. It’s a fast-paced, heartfelt, clean romantic suspense with a touch of faith that made me want to go back and read the entire series. Highly recommend to romantic suspense fans! I received an advanced complimentary copy from the author. All opinions are my own and voluntarily provided.

This is book 2 in Ms. Pettrey's "Coastal Guardians" series, which centers around a team of Coast Guard criminal investigators. (Essentially, the Coast Guard equivalent of NCIS.) There's nothing terribly wrong with it, except that there is just too darn much going on in a relatively short novel, so nothing really has the depth that would make it a better book. There is a primary romantic involvement, between two of the investigators who grew up together in the same abusive foster home. One, show more Mason, has just transferred into this team, where the other, Rissi, is established, and their rekindled deep friendship matures into a love story. And there is a secondary budding romance between the team leader, Noah, and Coast Guard medic Brooke, who is being stalked. He's looking out for her since she is a Coastie and a close friend of his sister, but he is fighting the attraction he feels because of some past relationship gone bad (stay tuned for Book 3 to find out what happened to him and if he ends up with Brooke). And there is a THIRD budding attraction between Caleb, a by-the-book team member who is broken hearted that Rissi cares for Mason and not him, who is taken aback when sparks fly with private investigator Austin, who had previously worked on a case they are looking into now. And that's just the romance angle. On the mystery side, we have an unexplained death on an oil rig that Mason and Rissi go out to investigate. Body count goes to 2 when the chopper taking them out there crashes, possibly sabotage, and the pilot dies. And more pile up on the way. There are hidden personal conflicts. There are eco-terrorist. There is a mob-type financial set up in the background. ALL IN 371 PAGES. It's not a terribly bad book, but would seriously have benefited from some plot trimming. show less

Forbidden office romance, fake relationship, & mutual pining with a fast-paced mystery made Two Seconds Too Late unforgettable! I loved this 2nd book in the Jeopardy Falls series & wow did it keep me up late reading. Dani Pettrey’s created another exciting romantic suspense & I can’t wait for more.

Riley & Greyson find themselves staying at a luxury couples retreat in the New Mexico wilderness when Riley’s friend Kelly goes missing. As colleagues in a private detective firm with show more Riley’s brothers, they work closely together. There’s always been an underlying smoldering attraction, but neither one realizes the other has the same feelings until they go undercover & all the emotions surface, especially when they’re forced to share a room & pretend to be a couple.

Unfortunately, someone realizes who Riley is & that she holds a valuable key. As Riley & Greyson try to investigate Kelly’s disappearance, their lives are at constant risk. Though both Riley & Greyson have a past to work through, their relationship might have a chance, if they can survive.

I loved Riley & Greyson! The chemistry between them was sizzling. I enjoyed how all the times they “pretend” to be a couple is all too real. Loved seeing their relationship grow from friends to more.

Part of the story is told from Kelly’s POV who’s on the run. It’s intense as all the puzzle pieces are revealed & a psychopathic cult leader & his minions go after both Kelly & Riley. There’s plenty of action & adventure spanning two states & the unforgiving wilderness. There’s also a lovely, natural faith thread woven throughout.

Highly recommend to inspirational romantic suspense fans! Though part of a series it’s easily read as a standalone. I received an advanced copy from the author without expectation of a review. All opinions are my own & voluntarily provided.
