Complete. Unbridled. Awesome. This latest edition to the Six Saviors series does not disappoint. Although it is still 3rd on my list, with Book 1 (The Light Within Me) at the top and book 3 (Reborn) a very close second, Destiny's Shift is only trailing behind by a nose. The writing style in this is tight, witty and highly entertaining. Not wanting to give anything away, I will say I was shocked by the early plot twist thrown in and the addition of the new characters introduced in this book. show more Curious to see if Carly plans on expanding the series beyond the six with these new characters. show less
After a disappointing book 2, book 3 blew my socks off. It was well written, no info dumps and no repetitive detailing. This book is darker than the other two, and for good reason. The struggles the main characters deal with feel real and a beautifully expressed. The very first sentence grabs you, and I wasn't able to put the book down, finishing it in about four hours of solid reading. I love the way Bev was written, and what's not to love about Hudson? Book 1 is still my favorite so far (I show more think I may have a thing for Noah...), but this book really made me hungry for the series again. show less
When I saw the cover of this book I was like OMG this looks hot beyond words. So I requested a copy from the author through the book machine. I was over the moon when my request was acknowledged and I couldn't wait to begin reading.

If I was to rate this book based on its cover I would give it a five star rating, however, there is more to a book than its cover. I was intrigued by the concept of this story which I thought was unique and could not wait to dive between the pages.

By Sea takes show more you into the world of the military, CIA and the drug cartel. Brody is a marine who was sent on a mission to Guatemala to destroy a warehouse belonging to the cartel. While he was there, an accident happened that led to him being discharged from the military. In addition he was forced to sever all ties with his past that included the members of the team who went with him on the mission. He was forced to relocate to Corpus Christi where he became the captain of a fishing boat. Life is not going too well for him, however, this would change when a stranger made him an offer that he could not refuse.

Rayna Lopez is a CIA operative who is eager to begin working in the field. As such, when her boss gave her an assignment, she was exhilarated. However, her exhilaration was temporary when she found out that the assignment involved monitoring a former marine, to ensure that he was not revealing any government secrets. After their encounter she never expected to cross paths with him again. However, due to sheer coincidence these two will find themselves interacting once again.

The story is interesting, however, I felt that there was a lot missing. Why would the government be conducting experiments on soldiers, giving them supernatural liabilities, hide them away and threaten them with death if they should reveal this secret? I thought this was very strange. What I also found disturbing was that the CIA would hire the daughter of an infamous drug cartel to work for them. Don’t they usually carry out extensive research on persons whom they are hiring? Also, who is Joe Smith and what is his agenda? All these questions and no answers provided.

The story started out slow and it took some while before things started heating up. It was not until about 60% into the book that the pace picked up. It was at this point that I had a hard time putting down the book. To say I was eager to discover what was coming next is an understatement. There are some twists which, when it came I was thinking wow! However, at the same time I was thinking “Why am I not surprised?” This reaction was based on how some of the characters behaved throughout the story.

I enjoyed the story, however, I was not satisfied with the way it was wrapped up as I still had a lot of questions that were not answered. In spite of this I would recommend it to readers who are looking for sweet romantic read with a twist.

Newspaper journalist Abby needs a story, a really good one that will keep her gamefully employed. Unfortunately, her cop connections are remaining tight-lipped about the recent string of serial murders, so she turns her attention on Noah Johnson, the criminal profiler working the cases, with the intention of making him the focus of her story. Sparks and instant sizzle ignite between her and Noah, but little does she know just how big of a story he show more could really be.

There's a good reason why Noah is the best in the business. Not only is he not human, but he's had centuries to excel at what he does. Many years ago, twelve Colonists (convicted criminals) escaped his home planet SR44 and fled to Earth where they began committing violent crimes. Noah along with five other specially trained warriors were selected because of their individual abilities. Together they're known as the Six Saviors. Their mission was to hunt down the Colonists and eliminate them. It should have been an easy task, a quick in and out and then return home. That was 211 years ago. The Colonists had somehow managed to take on human forms and procreate causing their offspring to be potential threats as well. Abby's professional interest in him is a red flag. He knows he should stay away from her, but he's inexplicably drawn to the sweet human, something that has never happened to him in all his time on Earth. When she becomes the latest target of a Colonist, he would do anything to protect her, even if it means telling her the truth about his origins. Will her inquisitive nature about the universe in general help her to digest and accept him, and can she rely on the feelings of comfort and safety she's always felt in his presence?

This was my first read by author Carly Fall, and with this first in a series, I am HOOKED! Ms Fall's delightfully wicked, cheeky and snarky narrative brings the six warriors and the heroine to life making them instantly likeable, loveable and leaves you feeling invested in them. You also get a feel for each individual personality which seems to fit their unique abilities and vice versa. The brief history of their origins, their home world SR44, was very detailed – their society and way of living, their forms, colors, sights and sounds. With all that knowledge, the warrior's desire to return home was palpable and understandable.

Noah was just adorable. With his lack of experience with human females, he seemed almost shy and virginal, and he was also prone to screwing up occasionally. He was still an alpha male through and through, but with a soft side that made it easy to fall in love with him. Another endearing trait of his was his struggle with his growing feelings for Abby versus his feelings of revenge and longing for justice. Making him choose seemed almost cruel – the love of one over the safety of many? Pretty poignant question.

Abby was a wonderful heroine and counterpart for Noah. I liked her sense of humor and self-confidence around him, or maybe I should say her assertiveness. She didn't question his interest in her and just went with what felt natural, and that made their relationship feel believable to me. That was a refreshing change from the insecure heroines I'm used to reading about. Another point in her favor was that she listened to him when he tried to tell her how to stay safe. I often bristle when heroines mistake the hero's protectiveness for being overbearing or trying to tell them what to do and they just walk right into trouble. Not Abby. She took it and ran with it, literally.

There were some interesting twists that I suspected or even found a little predictable, but it was more fun seeing the characters taken by surprise. This story had a lot of suspense and a healthy dose of sizzling heat, but I enjoyed the sweet, romantic factor the most. The characters showed their vulnerabilities which made me feel invested in them. I'm about to start Rayner's story in [b:Finding My Faith|13506779|Finding My Faith (Six Saviors #2)|Carly Fall|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1330627020s/13506779.jpg|19057832]. I can't wait to buy the entire series in PB!
