Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Michelle L. Olson:
Generally I don't like to do the comparison thing, but I feel like I sort of have to here so people get a bit of a feel of what they'll be jumping into. ALL THE KINGS MEN is sort of like a subset of The Black Dagger Brotherhood, meets Alpha Pack, meets Brotherhood of Blood.
All the Kings Men is a group of warriors trained to fight rogue shapeshifters and other problematic preternaturals.
Micah is one of the strongest on the show more team, but he's had a rough run with his mates and is in a VERY bad place as the story begins. He's a complex, tortured, bad boy and if you like alpha males, you can't help but love him and feel for the guy.
Sam is one of those bad a** heroines that you love to love. She holds her own, looks out for others, is sexy, savvy and smart.
Her and Micah together are absolute dynamite! The sexual chemistry of these two literally jumps off of the page and you can't help but re-read sections because they are really...just...that...good!
The supporting cast was phenomenal as well. I personally cannot wait to find out more about Trace, the myserious self appointed guardian of Micah and best friend of the couple. There is so much more than meets the eye with him and I am so excited to find out what's up.
The bad guys in this tale were nasty. Diabolical in their scheming, ruthless in their pursuit, and utterly enjoyable to read.
If you haven't gotten the hint, I loved the book. I thought it was fantastic. My one problem was the ending because I am not a fan of the cliff-hanger and Donya was a dirty tease at the end of this book. The bonus is that I don't have to wait long for book #2 to find out what the heck happens. :)
LITERAL ADDICTION gives Rise of the Fallen 4 1/2 Skulls and would recommend it to Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance and all Alpha Male Vampire lovers. Definitely a great new find and I want to thank Jowanna at Pimpin' Reads for telling me I had to read it! :) show less

First off, this book is pure fluff. If you are looking for something with any kind of depth, move on. That said, it is a very well written bit of fluff with enjoyable characters, an interesting and original take on vampire romance and almost none of the over-done tropes that have killed most vampire romances for me.
The plot of this book reminded me a lot of the old Robin William's movie Dead Poets Society. No that this story has anything in common with a movie about a preppy boys school, but show more because like Dead Poets Society, Rise of the Fallen interweaves multiple plots together. None of the plots are extensively developed (there isn't time) but the interweaving is well done, the 'main' plot is brought to fun and satisfactory conclusion, and the inclusion of the other plots gives the story a sense of continuity, that life goes on even if this book is over.
Looking forward to picking up the next book in the series.
This book includes some F/m scenes, very light and playful, but skip it if that isn't your thing. show less

3.5 stars
Arion is straight with a capital S. His father is a friend of the King and his life is mapped out, with expectations that he will marry well.
Severin is gay, he has a BIG secret, an assassin on his tail and he has just found his mate, Ari. Oh, and his long-lost father wants to reconnect.
And so begins the roller-coaster. Ari's life is turned upside-down when he realises he is attracted to Sev - the first real attraction he has felt in his life - and its to a male.
There are a number show more of threads in this story. The action really gets interesting in the last 100 pages - if the middle could have been a fraction more action and little less sex, it would have been a 4 star read for me. show less

A short, sweet story about a romance between two guys who have been best friends forever and have shared pretty much everything except their feelings for each other. Written with a good understanding of the realities of life, this story also contains a lot of romance and some very tender moments between Sam and Cooper – once they figure out their attraction is mutual!
Sam is, or rather was, a military man. He is used to taking orders, and thinks he is safe from the 'accusation' of being gay show more his father kept throwing at him. Unfortunately, he discovers that his so-called Army buddies are mean bigots who treat him like dirt the moment they find out he is gay. Barely healed he makes it home only to face more of the same prejudice – this time from his parents. It takes him a while to figure out what's next, and he is very happy his best friend Cooper is there to help.
Cooper is a great guy. A silent, strong cowboy who supports Sam al the way, he finally sees his chance to find out if his deeper feelings for Sam are reciprocated. He may be hesitant at first, but he has a great friendship to lose, or so he thinks. Once he opens up though – the exploration of a totally different type of relationship is unstoppable.
While there were no surprises in terms of the plot, the characters carried the story well. As is so often true, Sam needed the major wake-up call to realize that what he was doing with his life doesn't make him happy. Cooper is there to catch and support him. If you like 'friends to lover' stories, and if newly discovered mutual feelings make you smile, then you will probably like this book.
