Camp Greatlake, for boys, reached by a train journey for most. They looked forward to a summer of sports and wished to beat their rivals, the Muskrats, at diving. A camp worker loved baseball. One boy who wasn't allowed to dive, Shark, presented a mystery to the others by his behaviour. The boys went camping (cooking on an open fire, sleeping bags; Shark even stated the difference between the camp and camping) in their last week of camp.
