Short biography
Gordon was born in New York City to Polish immigrants. Sometime during his early childhood, Charles and Blanche Fisher Laite became his foster parents.

Charles Laite was a Broadway actor and appeared in four silent films. Charles died in February 17, 1937 of a heart attack at the stage door of the Cleveland House Theatre in Cleveland, Ohio, where he was an understudy for the play "In a Nutshell".
Blanche was the illustrator of one of the most popular children's book's ever sold, The Real Mother Goose by Rand McNally. Over 3,600,000 copies of this book have been sold since its first printing in 1916.
Gordon married his wife Jeanne in 1948 and the couple had three children. His later years were spent in Gallup, New Mexico until his death.

I have always loved fairy tales, and I loved that multiple fairy tale stories are in one book. The fairy tale stories included in this book are Rapunzel, Beauty and the Beast, and the Toad and the Diamond. The stories included are the original fairy tales, not the Disney style fairy tales we all know and love, and it was interesting to see how different the original fairy tales are compared to the Disney adaptations of the stories.
Three favorite fairy tales-- Rapunzel, Beauty and the Beast, and Toads and Diamonds--are brought beautifully to life in this classic Little Golden Book from 1959, with breathtaking illustrations by the inimitable Gordon Laite.
I think I've had this book forever, but.in actuality, it appears I stole it from my sister. However, it may go to my grave with me. Beautifully illustrated versions of Rapunzel, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Toads and Diamonds, and Snow White and Rose Red.
Interesting telling of three fairytales. Good pictures. Probably a 4th or 5th grade level book
