This is the snake book in a non-fiction series of 3-D Thrillers! Scholastic books. 3-D glasses are attached to the front cover in a plastic bag and some of the inside pictures are in 3-D. There are some good pictures of the inside and outside of snakes. In some pictures the snakes are eating mice and lizards. The author discusses how snakes hunt, lay in the sun and attack. The book compares the differences between venomous and non-venomous snakes. Some of show more the other reptiles include komodo dragons, turtles, lizards and crocodiles.
I think this is a good book fair book. It’s high interest to boys with who want to know more about snakes and other reptiles. I think it’s a bit of a problem to have 3-D glasses with a library book because they will get lost. I’m not sure you could really use this book for a research report because it does not focus on one particular species; just snakes in general. It is also a paperback book, so it does not stand up to school library wear and tear. All in all, the book is fine. It’s well written with interesting pictures. It’s more of a book for independent reading. It would fit into supplementary reading in a reptile or snake science unit. It would also fulfill non-fiction text requirements for Common Core. It’s a good parent purchase for their son/daughter, but not really sturdy enough for a school library. show less

Billy's Big Game ended up being a dream! Each word I read on each page was descriptive enough to put me right there in the game. I even imagined myself kicking the ball and letting it bounce off my head. Scoring a goal and winning the big game was a dream but deffinately could be a reality.
This book is published by Sprout UK. com, written by Paul Harrison, edited by Joe Harris. I write this because they should be credited for creating a fun book on cars. You do not have to be a fan of cars to be lured in by such car models as: Telsa Roadster Sport,
Lamborghini Miura, Thrust SSC, and Shelby Tuatara. Some of the stories give you the history behind the car. Others talk about the materials needed to make the cars and the creature comforts that had to be given up to make the car. show more It's a great book and the Further Reading made me want to read more about cars.
Geared for 3rd graders and upward. show less

This book has sight words and simple sentences that make it easy for children to read. The illustrations are cartoonish, and not as detailed for the kids to look at. I would have the younger children read this book, maybe ages 3-5, to pick up on words and sounds.
