Drawing on his many years of experience as a spiritual director and counselor, Morton Kelsey shares in a very personal way his insights on spiritual friendship. From the desert of his own doubt to his discovery of the mystery of love, Kelsey's personal witness speaks to all of us.
Set Your Hearts on the Greatest Gift as a profoundly warm and personal expose' on love. Using real life experiences and his acute insights Kelsey draws us into the excitement of a life based on the essence of God. He teaches us how to be open to love and what it means to love one another.
The first half of the book provides a good summation of western philosophy. The second half delves into Jung's archetypes. This is not conventional doctrinal christianity. Conventional christians will disagree with much in the second half. Overall well written exploration of our ability to encounter the spiritual.
The author claims that there is a new realization today that the realm of spirit does breakthrough into the human psyche and bring changes. This awakening is not tied just to historical Christianity. It has come independently in some of the most sophisticated modern psychology, which finds its crucial for our world to discover the realm of spirit once more and learn how men can find God in it. It is time to re-examine the assumptions on which so nuch of our present theology is based.
