John Freeman is Professor Emeritus and Research Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Rice University, Houston, Texas. His primary research interests include computer modelling of the Earth's magnetosphere for space weather specification and prediction, neural networks and other artificial show more intelligence applications to forecasting geophysical parameters. A brief, but excellent overview of how the Sun effects the Earth. Solar storms are a serious problem. Monitoring and alerting is a serious responsibility. The major storm could take down a majority of our technological-based infrastructure. Freeman gives a good introduction with a good read list.
