One of the things that I love the most about Black Light is how the stories are all different. Each story seems to showcase another area or aspect of the BDSM lifestyle in a purely authenticate way. This was completely true with this story. The relationship with Melody and Kawan was definitely a different voyage. While DDlg had been previously mentioned in the roulette books as scenes, they did not go to the extent that this book did. Even though this is not my preference when it show more comes to BDSM it was compelling to read because I found it fascinating to read more about something that I knew relatively little about.
The author did a great job at showing the progression in the characters as well the reasons why someone might be drawn to this. It was interesting to watch Melody be so independent at work/school and then find the balance with being taken care of to the extent that she was. I also enjoyed watching Kawan and his patience with Melody as he helped her come to terms with that side of herself while fulfilling his need to care for her the way that he did. There was a level of trust here and that I really appreciated.
The story in itself did not have much outside drama but the little bit that there was seemed to only be there to enhance the progression and journey of the characters as they settled into this relationship at both home and the club. I wondered about the reasons for the male colleague at work and what his purpose was to the story because it didn't seem to further the story. In fact, I kept waiting for him to be the drama.
All and all, this was another fantastic addition to the world of Black Light. I look forward to what is going to come next. show less

I have mixed feelings about this book and the rating, so please read my review to understand my rating. I tried to be as fair as possible because I don't want to be all kink-shamey.
The writing in itself is excellent - I'd say 4.5 stars for quality. I would absolutely be willing to read more work from this author in a different erotica genre.
The reason why I couldn't rate it overall that high is because of the content matter. Again, I am trying my best to be neutral, but there are definite show more undertones of grooming and classism here. Again, the writing is excellent, but as someone who was once 17/18, looking back, I realize how much more exploitable and vulnerable I was at that age - and that's even without being raised by Victorian morals/standards - and it did feel uncomfortable reading about this whole system that trained the female MC and etc. The teachers, governesses, etc, all know what they're doing while their charges remain naive.
It was frustrating because the writing really was good. If the writing had been bad, it probably would have been a DNF.
Take what you will from my review. show less

Golden Angel has created a fun and kinky world in her Stronghold Doms series. It's nice to see a whole group of friends who are supportive of each other and their kinks and feelings. Olivia has been one of the members of that group and she's been a stable member of the group and has helped more than one couple get together. There is one way that Olivia stands out from the other women in her group. She's not a sub, she's a Domme.
When some of the guys in her friend group open a new club, show more Marquis, she's hired in to manage the club part of that. That means she has a lot of contact with Luke, a silent partner and the person who did all the reno work on the building. They are attracted to each, but Olivia is pretty sure that it's not going to work because she thinks he's a dominant person, and she doesn't do dominant guys. When she finds out that he's a sub, then it's even harder to fight off the attraction, but she sees him as her boss, and you just don't play where you work.
I loved this story. It's nice to see a well done F/m story. There aren't as many of them as there are M/f, which is too bad. It's a pretty hot dynamic, and Golden Angel has written a hot and sexy story and a strong love story. Definitely, a great read and I'm glad to have read it. My biggest problem with it? Olivia calls Luke Cupcake and that made me hungry. show less

You would think a series that's called the Big Bad Bunnies would be utterly ridiculous. I mean, bunnies are neither big nor bad. Unless, of course, you live in Golden Angel's head. Then it makes total sense and works really well.
Brock Bunson spent 7 years of his life locked up with his siblings in a medical facility by a crazed scientist. His treatments caused them to turn into shifters by unlocking their genetic potential. And I'll bet you can guess what kind of shifters they are turned show more into? If you guessed bunny, then you were mostly right.
After Brock and his sibs were rescued, he trained to be a soldier to make sure that he could fight the people who were trying to do this to other people. He managed to avoid spending time with doctors until he hurt his shoulder and had to have surgery and PT when he couldn't avoid doctors. It was even worse when he reinjured himself and had to spend time with Doc.
Doc is a puma shifter. She dislikes her first name, barely goes by her second name, and makes everyone call her Doc. She's terminally cheerful. She spends all the PT sessions with Brock talking to him. He's terribly silent and rarely answers back. In fact, she's only seen him smile once. When they are at a party celebrating his brother's mating, Brock tries poking at her and ends up hurting her feelings. So everyone is surprised when he volunteers to go with her on a mission.
Of course, the mission doesn't go smoothly, because what's the fun in that, but fascinating things happen, which can be bad for the characters but good for us.
Golden Angel loves to plant easter eggs throughout her books and that makes it a lot of fun to read. I mean, the story is good to read on its own, but the easter eggs just add in another layer. Doc is a Disney fanatic, so there are all kinds Disney quotes in there. There's also lovely snarky humor. The story is sweet and romantic and full of action. I'm looking forward to the next part of the overall story. show less
