This book is a great pairing for something like Patricia Polacco's fiction book, Thunder Cake. It would make a wonderful lesson on storms or weather. I liked the fun facts that were placed on some of the pictures in the book, however, it might be hard for some children to get through on their own simply because it is a non-fiction. It might be best if the teacher read it to the student, so that the teacher can make it more interesting and maybe engage the students more through questioning. show more The book itself is very informative and should definitely be highly considered when planning a weather lesson. show less
Ages 3-8. This informational text provides an overview of the various types of weather we encounter. Amazing photos, onomatopoeia and scientific vocabulary will keep kids coming back to this interesting book.
As expected the photos are fantastic. The text covers a wide variety of weather patterns including rain, hail, tornado, monsoon, and others.
Both the photos and text have an international, even intergalactic focus. Includes visual glossary and table of contents.

This book had pictures and was engaging. It is sometimes hard to make Thunderstorms be exciting, but this book does it well with all the information.
