WOW! That was my first thought when I finished this one. I was entertained from the opening words to the last page. Seriously y'all, I cannot believe this book is free on Amazon. I feel so awful about this one being free I might just send Miss Jack price of the book.
The characters are well developed, intensely likable and totally believable. A very fast paced read, seemingly leaving you breathless in some parts. I read this one practically in one sitting, mostly because I didn't want to put show more it down.
Vamps, demons, zombies, winged things, ghosts, and witches. It had all the elements of fun! The sex was pretty hot, but left enough to the imagination to make it tasteful. The thought of living practically in a cemetery is super creepy too! I can't wait to read the next one to find out who Grateful Knight (super awesome name!) chooses, will it be the hot, hunky, chiseled love of her lives, Rick, or will it be the needy, green eyed, super coffee maker, chef extraordinaire spectral (sort of) Logan? I know who I am rooting for! Could it be Gary? Or will Gary become even more of a JERK? Will Mr. Hellborine be revealed? Are they in store for a supernatural war?? I need to know!
I would like to know more about her past. I was slightly disappointed that the aspect of the book wasn't fleshed out more.
All in all, this is one for the favorites shelf! Looking forward to the next book! Get this one before Miss Jack realizes that it is still free! LOL
XOXO

I didn't know what I was getting into when I picked out this novel. I figured it would be another typical supernatural tale.. But this isn't young adult fiction; it is for adults. And I think that makes it so much better.
22-year-old nurse Grateful Knight moves to a new house in a small town after her life has practically fallen apart. Her ex both bankrupted her and broke her heart. She's looking for a fresh start and time for herself. But her irresistible neighbor Rick proves to be quite the show more distraction. Then she discovers there are ghosts in her house and that there is something that's not normal about Rick either. She soon discovers there's more about her past than she could have ever imagined.
I really like Grateful as a narrator/protagonist because she is so normal. And this novel has such a refreshing take on the supernatural that it kept me reading page after page. As soon as I finished it I immediately purchased the second one, though I'd planned on only reading the first. The world Genevieve Jack has created is somewhat familiar - with zombies, vampires, witches, and more - but her protagonist's role makes it new and enticing. show less

Manhattan Dragon by Genevieve Jack
The Treasure of Paragon series #3. Dragon shifter paranormal romance. Can be read as a stand-alone but better as part of the series since prior characters (family) have roles in this story.
Dragon shifter Rowan Valor is used to restarting her life. She’s lived in New York for over three hundred years and knows humans won’t understand someone who doesn’t age. When Detective Nick Grandstaff interrupts her stealing diamonds for her hoard, she erases his show more memory of the event but he’s a detail oriented person and knows something is wrong about that night. And it turns out, she’s actually met him in the past which helps support the wild story she tells him about being a dragon! And if vampires really own some underground lair, Nick knows he needs to help stop the human trafficking.
Dark and amusing, this story about dragons from another world will keep you entertained while they try to shut down the vampires. Yes, there are bad vampires and it gets tense and then family gets involved. But she’s a Red Dragon! Nick loves red. And her wings are so soft!
The Birkin bag short conversation between Rowan and Harriet is hilarious!
In actuality, there is more suspense than humor, but this is definitely my favorite sibling so far. show less

Windy City Dragon by Genevieve Jack
The Treasures of Paragon series #2. Dragon shifter and vampire mob romance. Can be read as a stand-alone but there is an overall arc for the series that is expanded with this book.
Tobias is an old dragon living as a human pediatric cardiologist doctor in Chicago. He meets Sabrina when she feeds from Tobias and tries to make him forget her. But her vampire mind skill doesn’t work on the dragon and he’s drawn into her life and the underground mob life. show more
Sabrina is supposed to take over for her father, the mob boss. Her father has made sure she has the skills and loyalty to rule the coven. Tobias will need his dragon to make it out of underworld he finds himself in and use his skills to help Sabrina.
Dark and gritty with a bit more mob action than I prefer but it was fun for me to imagine an underground mob in Chicago, since that’s my hometown. Their romance grows as fast as the danger. Sabrina is strong and takes a lot of the alpha role here. I loved Tobias helping the little girl with a magic unicorn necklace when he couldn’t save with his skills.
