I'm a Liberty Meadows fan from way back, but this collection disappointed me. It's hard to say whether the jokes haven't held up, or whether they were just never aimed at people in their 40s. It's Cho's early work, so of course it's less polished in both art and writing. I was surprised, though, at just how many of the best jokes eventually made it into Liberty Meadows. Ultimately I think it's for serious Cho fans (or UMD alums from the 90s) only.
Surprisingly, one of the few, newer X-Men comics that I have actually enjoyed. I love Bendis when he is on his game, and here he is pretty close to being on top of it. A book like this could have covered all the crap they're trying to force onto us with the multiple X-teams in Marvel NOW!
Adam's Review (4 Stars) :Here we have the first Marvel Now X-Men crossover story, Battle of the Atom. Overall, a really expertly crafted and well thought out story. The art is alright throughout, and the show more differing styles don't throw anything off balance.
I really enjoyed seeing the possible futures and the sheer amounts of foreshadowing will keep me reading for quite a while. Thank you Marvel for amassing the entire story in one graphic novel Volume, that would have been seriously difficult to follow otherwise.
I guess I'll see how this all plays out in future volumes of the X-books, but I'm glad the original X-Men are still around. I really like the All New X-Men title.
Highly recommend for X-Men fans show less

I enjoyed Frank Cho's Liberty Meadow comics back in the 1990s, but haven't really followed his work since as he seemed to mostly be doing covers. This book offers a chance to catch up on a bunch of those covers from the early 2000s and be reminded of how sexy and bold his art is. It's all cheesecake and beefcake, with a little bit of nudity and a few dozen dinosaurs.
My main problem with the book is that aside from some copyright notices on the verso page there is a lack of any notation as to show more where the art originally appeared and who exactly all the characters are. Based on my own research, his Marvel work is represented by covers and sketches from The Mighty Avengers (2007) #1-7, Black Panther (2005) #3, 8 and 18, Ms. Marvel (2006) #1-5, New Avengers (2004) #14-15, Amazing Spider-Man (1998) #46-48, and Shanna the She-Devil (2005) #4-7. Other publishers are represented with covers from series like Fear Agent, DevaShard: Dark Before Dawn, Jungle Girl, Liberty Meadows, Dejah Thoris, Conan the Cimmerian, Red Sonja, and many more. Tributes to Tarzan, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, Edgar Rice Burroughs' Barsoom/Warlord of Mars, Masters of the Universe, and Poison Ivy also pop up.
Now that Cho is on my mind again, I might try his Jungle Girl series sometime soon. show less

2021 Summer (July);
Reread of Baby!Jean Arc
Most of these were read in a blur of summer bliss in a hammock in a backyard garden as I finally followed up on my original reads of the baby!Jean storyline that I'd gotten half into before falling out of again. I really do continue to love this storyline mostly for her.
I don't remember reading this one the first time around reading these arcs, so I came at this one entirely fresh. I had so many intense feelings about what was being done with the show more kids, who got to make choices and who didn't. Which and whose problems are greater, is there a right to your own choices if it effects the entire future/present.
The ending twist with Kitty was a really great thing to see, too. show less
