FOMO drives a young tortoise to ignore her parents' advice and venture out into the winter snow instead of hibernating. Other animals ridicule her choice, but Shelley Tortoise gets the last laugh when she shows them all up with her mad snowboarding skillz. And with that flash of rebellion she immediately conforms to expectations.

Sounds like most people's lives . . .
Very well-written interesting satire on how the world might be without religion. Set in an alternative future where science is the new religion and Charles Darwin is revered as the Saviour. Raul and Arym have been handed over to the State run work house where they are indoctrinated into the ways of Science and are told that once you die that's it; there is no afterlife. But Raul starts to question the Celebron (a cult of celebrity) and smashes a statue that his sister buys of one of the show more newest "saints". This causes the authorities to send them both to an island "hospital" for them to be "cured" of their doubts. While there, Raul finds an ex-monk's diary and discovers the truth about the past - religion, doubt and even murder. p.31-35 Raul loses it in the marketplace. show less

This is a fun book about a tortoise named Shelley who decides she wants to go out in the winter weather and not sleep like all the other tortoises. Although the other turtles, and other animals tell her it is ridiculous for him to be out in the winter, she goes out anyway. She soon realizes she is freezing and wants to go back hom to his warm ,cozy bed. She decides to get home, and gets there much quicker than a tortoise can normally travel, she slides down an icy hill. This book has such show more playful artwork that really helps to set the tone in this fun story. show less
