Short biography

I found this book to be fascinating. If you are very religious and stick to your beliefs and have no room for interpretation or understanding of something you may not be familiar with, then move past this book. I have always believed in the advancement of souls and that our purpose in this life is to learn. This book took it even a step further suggesting we are paying karmic debts and and learning lessons that we need to in order to educate our soul. The story is about Brian L. Weiss, a top show more man in the field of psychiatry, who encounters a patient name Catherine. She is anxious and filled with various deep rooted fears. After trying tradition talk therapy, she has not improved. They begin the journey of hypnotherapy where she reveals one past life after another and another and so on. By address the issues in these past lives, Catherine is healing in her current life. She has let go of those fears, her anxiety is improved, and she is glowing with confidence and happiness. As they journey through her lives, they also reach a state after she dies to where he meets "the masters". The masters are what most people would call spiritual guides who help the person along their journey and after. He learns many interesting and personal things from the masters that makes this devote Catholic question things about his faith. The book continues to follow their journey as time goes along. Brian L Weiss, MD has written additional books and I can't wait to read them and learn more about what he has heard and experienced. show less
I remember reading this book shortly after it came out and I still will occasionally go back and read it. It's a fascinating story of a psychiatrist who attempts to help a young patient and inadvertently discovers that the patient has had past lives. The therapy sessions presented here will really challenge any notion you may have that reincarnation doesn’t exist. As with anything in life, there are so many things that we have question after question about, and as the questions pile up show more with no clear answers we can really dispute anything. But this book will make you think about the possibility that we have been here before. I was raised in a very conservative and religious home and never gave any thought to this concept until I read this book. The more I read and the more I thought about it, it started to make sense that we may have lived here before and done it many times. It also brought to question my ideas on purgatory and what it really is. Perhaps this is a place we go to if our soul doesn’t learn all it needs to when we die and before we incarnate again??
I highly recommend reading this book. It’s a fast read that will capture your attention and have you thinking about some concepts you may not have thought about before.

This little book is accompanied by a CD containing a meditation by Brian Weiss that can lead the listener to regressions to previous lives. His voice is pleasant, soft and relaxing. I for one always successfully regress to a previous life via this CD, but it may take time for some to regress.

The book itself is simple and well-written. The author refers to his own therapeutic practice, and relates a few relevant stories about some of his clients.

A pleasant little book. If you want to go show more deeper into the matter (other than the regressions themselves of course), read some of his more ambitious works. I would recommend "Messages from the Masters". show less
