Clean sheets? Check. Condoms? Check. Five chapters carefully flagged in her fully illustrated copy of The Wild Woman’s Guide to Sex: Tactics Guaranteed to Bring a Man to His Knees? Check.

When an obsessed hopeless romantic and a redeemable bad boy work out a sex deal, it places them in an unexpected position in more ways than one.

Dr. Ellie Swann is back in her hometown of Bluelick, Kentucky, with her own private practice and an obligation to an uncaring and ill father. She doesn’t have show more friends in Bluelick because of her shy awkwardness as a kid, but she’s back with a mission. A mission to seduce the handsome and available Roger Reynolds, a local attorney from a good family. However, rumor has it he’s pretty experimental in bed and her experience is minimal at best. How can she get the experience needed? Enter Tyler Longfoot, local bad boy who has a bullet in his butt and a secret to keep. And so the deal begins…keep quiet about the shooting incident for sex lessons. What could go wrong?

I had so many LOL moments reading this book. Ellie seemingly quiet academic upbringing is a ruse with her dominatrix tendencies while Tyler is blindsided by a smart beautiful woman he wants to get to know, but she only thinks of him as a sex tutor. Tyler’s sexy smiles, patient instructions, and resistance to Ellie’s sex manual lessons are so funny and so delicious. And Ellie’s sole focus on the book’s instructions by being thwarted by the yummy Tyler, is priceless. Tyler’s uncomfortable car ride with Ellie’s reckless driving is hilarious and the whole Slap and Tickle store scene is memorable. As you guessed, the training sessions go very well.

On a serious note, Ellie and Tyler’s vulnerabilities and feelings of unworthiness are ingrained in them. They have both had tough upbringings with unfeeling and physically abusive (in Tyler’s case) fathers. There is a challenge with Ellie’s father, but thanks to Tyler’s well-put ultimatum to her dad, things start to get better. And how did the whole thing with Roger pan out? Well, you’ll have to read the book to find out. Ultimately, this crazy couple who are made for each other, fall in love, jump into bed, and live HEA…but certainly not in that order.

My favorite supporting characters are Junior, Tyler’s loyal best friend and the one who shot him in the butt (again, read the book), and Melody, Roger’s ex, Ellie’s new office manager and friendly confidant who has a bit of fun on the side herself.

I highly recommend this delightful romantic comedy for those who believe in love, redemption, and the power of research.

Light, sexy, hilarious: "The imported lace teased her nipples to points with every subtle shift of fabric, It was, quite possibly, the most uncomfortable garment she'd ever worn. No, wait... her gaze dropped. That honor belonged to the matching thong." "'Say hello to my little friend. I like to call him... Thumper.'"

Ellie, a young doctor, is setting up her practice in her old hometown of Bluelick (had a problem with that one, kept reading it as BlueTICK), Kentucky, where her bitter, show more alcoholic widower father is now diabetic and needing a bit of looking after. Her longtime secret crush, Roger, is also from Bluelick AND recently split up with his long-time fiancee. Ellie overhears a conversation about Roger's seriously kinky tastes and decides, if she can "blow his pants off," they can settle down to the family life she's always wanted.

An opportunity presents to solicit some sex tutoring from the town bad boy, Tyler. He's got vast experience, so rumor goes, and isn't the settling down type, so with a sex manual in hand, five pertinent chapters carefully flagged (Ellie's the methodical type), the two of them go at it.

This is a novella (about 150 pages) so it is a little light on details; I would've liked a little more Bluetick, er, BlueLICK, small-town flavor, and the character's voices weren't as clearly delineated as I would have liked (everybody seemed equally nice and funny), but all in all, a delightful, fast, humorous, hot read.

This book follows Eden and Swain who are highly competitive with each other. Swain loves to get under Eden's skin any way he can and Eden can't stand him because she is by the books kind of officer where Swain likes to follow his instincts. They are both great officers that go about things differently but with the same results. As they are chosen for an undercover operation they have to pretend to not only tolerate each other but to also be in love. They mix like oil and water but their show more attraction is intense and always there. I loved Swain and felt like he had so much going on from his past that he could have let define him but instead he tried to make the best out of it. He was funny, sweet, cocky, but lovable. Eden was sweet but buried underneath layer upon layer of walls that kept everyone away so it was hard to relate to her especially when she would give Swain such a hard time constantly it made it hard for me to like them together. Overall the suspense was light, the attraction was there, but I want to see Eden open up more and quit being so judgmental of him. show less
