I selected this book to appeal to students who love sports and who need books that capture their interests without being too long. Sheldon Kennedy's story was eclipsed when Playing with Fire by Theo Fleury came out. Kennedy's story is raw and honest as he describes his struggles with the media pressure, the emotional and physical damage caused by the abuse and his subsequent alcohol, drug, and lifestyle attempts to forget it all. My students will enjoy the book-- a definite Waldo worthy book!
Former Canadian professional ice hockey player Sheldon Kennedy relates his sexual abuse, age fourteen, at the hands of his coach Graham James.
