Tom of Finland: The Complete Kake Comics by Tom of Finland
I don't know that I can give this book a clear star rating, but it is an excellent piece of archival work and I'm glad to have it and have read it. I was particularly into the inclusion of excerpts from Laaksonen's inspiration/reference photo scrapbooks, which provide a refreshing counterpoint of actual human bodies after some 680 pages of Laaksonen's idealized male drawings.

Tom of Finland: Comic Collection I by Tom of Finland
This volume pretty well straddles the line between what makes Tom of Finland's work interesting and what makes it frustrating. On the one hand, he was a talented draftsman with a great sense of page layout. On the other hand, there is a definite monotony to his work, since all of his men look exactly the same, and the pornographic situations that his characters find themselves in do not vary between each individual "story". It's a shame that Tom didn't try to stretch his horizons a bit more show more and try working outside of his comfort zone - he had the technical ability, but apparently lacked the motivation to really push the limits of his craft beyond simple and entirely predictable episodic pornography. show less

I loved this book it was really so funny,

It reminded me of a joke and I Love jokes
