This is a great technique for those (like me) who find cutting and sewing millions of little squares really tedious. I haven't made any of the actual projects in the book, but having this guide has made a real diference for me. A stich 'n flip project just sort of grows on its own -- what you get is not what you might have envsioned at first.
“Radiant New York Beauties” by Valori Wells is a unique book giving the quilter ideas for just one block: the New York Beauty. Wells gives examples and patterns for multiple fabrics and patterns, and if those don’t work, she teaches you how to draw your own patterns. Examples of the projects include a Western theme, a country theme, flowers in pots, fireworks, and some that are made in certain color schemes. Wells teaches the quilter how to paper piece with arcs to create the Beauties, show more and how to look for New York Beauties in nature. This is a wonderful way to learn to make the block and how to use it in quilts!
