2443 The Formative Years of the Catholic University of America, by John Tracy Ellis (read 26 Apr 1992) This is a workmanlike account of the struggle to found Catholic University, and ends in November of 1889, when the university was opened. Reading this book reminded me anew of the fascinating events which make up Catholic Church history in the last years of the 19th century in the USA, in which I have read so much since 1961. This has been a pleasant book to read.
