I haven't finished it of course. Who reads every word of a cookery book? But this is a practical, do-able account of Korean cuisine, with recipes whose ingredients are available, with a bit of effort. The photos are evocative souvenirs for me of the few weeks we spent in South Korea. I'm going to enjoy getting to know this book better.
I absolutely loved this book. Especially in a time when gluten is worse than Satan, it's refreshing to see such a lovely take on artisan baking. The cover of the book is an amazing representation of what a reader is to find inside. Beautiful photography and simple, nostalgic recipes, that remind of the time when nourishing food was the heart of every home.
I thought it was extremely important that we got a bit of explanation in the beginning of the book. We learn more about making our own show more sourdough starter and then storing it properly to keep it alive. I have worked in a bakery in the past where we sold Sourdough bread and I have had a love affair with it ever since. I think it is one of the most delicious types of bread there is. Not only that, but it is also very therapeutic and satisfying to make. I have had many unsuccessful tries to make a starter, so I will keep you updated and tell you how it goes.
Reading this book and looking at the photos gave me such a sense of comfort that I cannot wait to go home tonight and start testing them. I will be putting up a more in-depth review on my blog https://spicesandbooksblog.wordpress.com/ and it will contain my opinion on the quality of the recipes as well. I will be testing them ASAP, probably starting with the blueberry pancakes ('cause it's the weekend, so I might as well...).
All in all, I give this book a 5 out of 5! Well-deserved at that.

Gnammi, gnammi.
