Review of Star Trek Beyond - the 3rd film was okay. But it suffers from the same issue as all action films today - too much banging, crashing, fighting and explosions and very, very little character development. The character moments that do happen are great and work but there are far too few. The original films learnt from their mistake on the first film and realised it is the characters that people watch Star Trek for. Sadly, the new films have forgotten that lesson. So OK but I don't show more think these films will be rewatched by myself as much as the original films have been and will be.
And why, oh why do they spend a fortune on special effects and THEN make the films so dark, you can't actually see anything??? I don't get it, I just don't. show less

A spaceship crew is shipwrecked.
Having a new Star Trek movie that isn't somehow fundamentally wrong is a wonderful feeling. It's not a great movie by any means: The story is just the current standard "sci-fi" action movie formula; the photography is often too dark to see what's going on (at least in my shitty local cinema); and the action scenes are a mess. But it always has its heart in the right place. Whatever faults it has, it's a real Star Trek movie.

Fugitives are hired to catch a terrorist.
Okay. Way too long (I understand it was originally meant to be two movies - that might have worked), but enough of it is amusingly bad to make it watchable.

Students at a community college become friends.
4/4 (Great).
There are some weak episodes - especially the first few. But most of the time, this is one of the funniest sitcoms I've ever seen.
