First of all, I am reading a series out of order again, but this book is fine as a standalone. Secondly, unrequited love is one of my favorite tropes and Lizzie and Troy's story is funny, intriguing, and heartwarming.

Lizzie has loved Troy, her ex-brother-in-law, all her life and he always considered her the baby sister, but lately the chemistry between them has become explosive. All it takes is a hot kiss and a little smirk and it's game on. But keeping their relationship on the down low is show more a challenge considering it's a small town and Lizzie's sister, Emma, can read them both like a book.

Lizzie is a hairdresser and Troy is a cop. This is a short read so they jump into their relationship pretty quickly, but it doesn't feel rushed. I love that Lizzie, Troy and Emma, Lizzie's sister and Troy's ex, are mature about the situation and there is no jealousy or drama.

Lizzie is feisty and outspoken and Troy is calm and protective with a naughty streak. Let's just say they find some fun things to do with his handcuffs. I couldn't get enough of the fun and sexy banter between the main characters. Troy is also a great dad to his teenage son JT who is growing into a smart and kind young man.

This novella has a weird family dynamic that works. I highly recommend this engaging story with relatable characters and a little bit of suspense.

Thank you to Ms. Bowlin and Ms. Briscoe for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.

Isabella finds herself in a difficult situation that could end her career before it even starts. She is pretty much blackmailed into trying to get the inside scoop of the local fighter bad boy, Shadows. Shadows works hard and keeps his personal life closed off to everyone because his secrets are his own, but they are also his number one priority so, getting close enough to him to gain more knowledge about his life Isabella knows is going to be hard work what she doesn’t expect is the man show more she does find and the feelings he brings out in her. The more time these two spend together the more their attraction builds until it explodes but they both are helping each other find themselves amongst the chaos that is life, until Isabella’s secret is brought to light. Will Shadows be very forgiving when he learns about her lies or will he walk away leaving her behind? I loved their story because even though they both are keeping things to themselves Shadows approaches this like a true grownup that has his priorities in line and logically tells her OK this is what is going to happen, and you need to figure yourself out. A very sweet and sexy read that had me falling in love with the man that is Shadows. show less
I finished this book in one day, because once I started it I couldn't put it down! There's a great, unique family dynamic in this book. While this is the story of the main characters William Walker Jr. "Liam" and single mother Denise Cunningham, it's actually about the whole family/Club. Throughout the book Denise struggles with making sure her 13 year old twins have what they need and getting caught up in circumstances she's been dealt. Denise starts out knowing what the "Club" does is show more wrong 100% but as she falls in love with Liam, the line between right and wrong blurs. The Club gives Denise and her kids the family and security that they'd been lacking for a very long time. Liam is a very charming guy, who quickly takes on a protector role to Denise and her twins. Before he knows it, he's in love with them all and protecting them at all costs. I won't give anything away, but I think by the end you can definitely see that though Denise is starting to accept what Liam does, it's Liam who starts to question what he's doing. I imagine this will be the main plot theme of the series. The struggle the Club has between what's too far over the line.

What I most enjoyed about the book is how interwoven the secondary characters were mixed in. I've read a lot of books over the years and sometimes when you read a series it feels like the characters to future and previous books are thrown in for cameos to make it connected. That's not the case here. All the characters you meet are interwoven deeply into the story, it's as much about them as it is about Liam and Denise. To me I feel like secondary characters Tyler and Meredith (who are the main characters for the next book) stole the show and I can't wait for their book!

I do have to warn folks, there is violence and crime in this book. There is also a very graphic scene in the book that could disturb some, but it's necessary to the story. It shows just how gritty and brutal of a world the Club has put themselves in.

I absolutely adored this read, Danny and Hayden were perfect together. In this book Danny is a hardworking Firefighter while also helping his father’s landscaping business a few days a week. He grew up in a small town where his family was constantly judged and condemned because his father was an immigrant so he suffers with his own self confidence. It broke my heart how heavy other’s judgement weighed on him and held him back when it came to trusting his gut and being confident in his show more hard work. When he meets Hayden he is instantly smitten with her but when he finds out she is his chief’s daughter he knows he should stay away if only his feelings didn’t run too deep. Hayden knows her hometown is where she belongs and coming back she meets Danny who she knows is not like the other guys she has dated, now she has to decide to tell her dad or keep them a secret. This was super steamy, emotional, and fun read with great side characters. I loved that Hayden was great for Danny and he was perfect for her. I can’t wait to see where this group takes us from here. show less
