Georgie is afraid of the night - and the dragon is afraid of the knight! Together they go on a nighttime journey, sailing over a carnival, a city, and a baseball game, until they finally examine their fears and help each other understand them better. In daylight, the dragon is too big to hide, but still is scared to go back into his book and face the knight, so Georgie draws a new book for him to go into.

Sometimes, you just need to write a new story.

Illustrations are brush, pen, and ink on show more cotton rag paper with digital color, predominantly navy blue, orange, and yellow, providing a clean, retro look (see also: Harry and Horsie by Katie Van Camp, illustrated by Lincoln Agnew). show less
J. R. Krause did a good job of describing the way a small child feels when they have reached the age that they have to face their fear of the dark and bullies. His use of the dragon to illustrate this last fear was quite brilliant in my opinion. what better way to make a child feel less self-conscious about being afraid than to show them a dragon that is also afraid. This also lends confidence when it is the boy who helps the giant dragon to find a way to solve its problem. In the end, it is show more their mutual respect for each other that allows them to overcome their fears. We could learn a thing or two from this story. show less
I love this book! It has humor, it is multicultural, and the illustrations are great! Poco Loco is one crazy rat who has some unusual, yet interesting inventions: "Waffle-Iron Weather Forecaster." I absolutely love the multicultural aspect of the book because children who read this book can learn Spanish words. "My machine is predicting mal tiempo- oh no!" I believe that if children read books that were bilingual, they would be more engaged and have interests in learning another language. I show more also enjoyed the illustration of the book because the pictures told the story. No text and this book would be a great picture book. show less
That was very sweet. I love the interaction between Georgie and the Dragon, and Georgie's good thinking.
