Fun, fun, fun. That's my short review. I thoroughly enjoyed myself reading this book. Ms. Wisdom has created a fascinating world filled with witches, weres, wizards, fae, elves, and so much more. I love the fact that she has added her own spin to each of these myths, making them different from all of the other supernatural series out there these days.

The synopsis describes it as sexy, and I'll admit I was not prepared for its steaminess. However, I'm also not complaining about it either. show more That side of the story only made it that much more enjoyable for me. ;-)

I love Blair. She has a confidence and zest for life that is both refreshing and inspiring. She makes me want to add a little flair to my own wardrobe, to play with colors, add kitschy decorations to my house and just stop being so compelled to make everything straight-laced and relatively boring. She inspires me to feel comfortable speaking my own mind and standing up for my beliefs. In other words, she gives me permission to show the world who I truly am. It may not be the message Ms. Wisdom intended for the reader to learn but it is what I take away from Hex in High Heels.

The witches' back story is rich and fascinating. I would love to see Ms. Wisdom branch out into stories about each of the witches over the course of their 700 years, but I find no faults with the story as is either. While the character development is not the greatest, it is what I expect from a story like this and does not in any way detract from the enjoyment of the story. In fact, I can't wait to read more about Blair and her witch friends!

A Demon Does it Better was a fun read that left me wanting more. Set in a hospital for all things paranormal, Linda Wisdom creates a spooky and dark setting where something is amiss. Lili comes to work at the hospital in search of answers for her friend that has gone missing with no trace. Instead she finds even more questions as she is brought to the underground, dungeon-like part of the hospital where the mentally insane are kept. There she meets Jared who is a demon that she just can't show more seem to resist. And soon Lili finds herself drawn not only to Jared but also to the secrets that the hospital seems to hold close. Because everything isn't as it seems...

How spooky does that sound??? I loved the setting that the author created with this book. It filled the book with atmosphere at times that was both creepy and dark. Lili was quite the opposite which fit really nice as she was filled with light and goodness. The atmosphere of the story contrasted nicely with Lili's character which really worked well in the book. The chemistry between Lili and Jared was almost immediate which caused me to instantly root for them. I would have liked to seen Jared's character explored a bit more though...I didn't feel like we got to fully know him like we did Lili. In the end it didn't matter, as I was just waiting to see that they got their happy ending :) The plot kept my attention throughout the story as Lili searched for answers to the various goings on at the hospital. And although the ending was a bit faster than I would have liked, I felt that it tied everything up quite nicely.

All in all, this was another solid read by this author! I'm looking forward to whatever she decides to write next as she is on my auto-buy list. And I really, really like the darker turn that her last two books have taken. I just can't wait for more! If you haven't tried this author yet, the great thing about these books is that you don't have to read them in any particular order. Characters from previous books are mentioned but it won't affect your enjoyment of each individual book. (I'd start at the beginning and read them all though if I were you :) Definitely recommended!

Bottom Line: Another must read from this author!

Disclosure: I was lucky enough to be sent a copy of this book from the publisher. My thanks!

I read this book for what I call a "candy read" meaning it'll be fast, full of delicious calories, and not requiring me to do anything but enjoy it. It was all that.

If you're looking for a book to take seriously, this isn't the book for you. But if you want to relax on the beach or in the bath, Jazz Tremaine's your go-to witch.
I really enjoyed this. Jazz was a believable heroine in a world in which magic and the paranormal is not only present but in the open. Her bete noire is the vampire Nikolai Gregorivich, gorgeous and irresistible to Jazz, which frustrates her and had ended up with her being locked up repeatedly over the years.
This opening book sets up the background world for Jazz and Nick to operate in and has some really interesting ideas which are well fleshed out. Jazz is a witch, being punished along show more with her fellow witchy sisters for a transgression against a member of the nobility some 300 odd years ago, every time she uses her magic inappropriately, she gets time added to her sentence.
When she met Nick again she almost immolated him and Linda Wisdom perfectly portrays the dismay Jazz feels when she realises that she still has the hots, metaphorically speaking, for a guy who is technically dead.
There is some wonderful humour in the book, along with great characters and the plot, which concerns vampires going missing, is believable within the world the author has created.
If I had one criticism, it would be that I would have liked a bit more background to the whys of Jazz and her fellow witches' casting out to wander the earth until their punishment had been served.
