I learned more about opera than I ever wanted to while paging through this light hearted mystery. I've been a fan of Stanley's since book one. I missed Nicole this time but quickly fell in love with Daphne. Mr. Michaels has tossed out another hit with this gem.

Stan is a hairdresser. When a man he meets and is interested in is murdered, he is put on the suspect list. Stan is determined to clear his good name, so he runs around town chasing down leads and interviewing his suspects. Most of the time he is at odds with the police force, although he does end up sort of working with them. Intrigue abounds, as more people are killed and disappear, but Stan is on the case.

I enjoyed this. Stan was a little pushy on the detective front, and show more definitely had some moments where he didn't act as smart as he was. The mystery was pretty good. Normally I can spot the culprit by the second time I meet them, but I just had to follow the clues as interpreted by Stan when they were interpreted by Stan. Because of the plotting, I was not rolling my eyes about how obvious the murder was and why couldn't the main character and/or police just KNOW? show less
Stan Kraychik is a very swanky gay hairdresser in Boston. I don't remember much of the plot, but he stumbles on a mystery and runs around Boston trying to solve it. The dialogue was witty; the plot engaging enough to finish, but it's a read it once and pass it on book.
Stan's at again. This time investigating the murder of the Boston ballet director. He and Rafik had been at a party at the director's house the night before. After a spat with his lover he receives a call that the director has been killed. And thus the story begins.
