Darcey Bussell

Tenth in what is apparently a lengthy series, although I haven't read any of the others. My granddaughter hasn't either, but it doesn't much matter as it stands alone. I read it to her recently, and she liked it, although neither of us were keen to look for more in the series.

It's about a talented ballet dancer called Rosa, who has magical ballet shoes that take her into another world. She has a difficult decision to make, and she also needs to help her fairy friend rescue a trident. So show more there are two story-lines going on, one quite exciting, the other more interesting to me, demonstrating that Rosa is a kind, thoughtful person.

Worth reading aloud if you find this - or one of the others in the series - to a child of about four or older, or as an early chapter book for someone interested in fairies and/or ballet.

A rather happy children's story, perfect for little girls who love ballet, and so this is a very solid 3 stars.

It has a little hint of fantasy with the magic shoes, and a lesson on charity from the head of the dance school.

Although a children's book, the writing is remarkably mature and the story is well written. Some of the technical terms would probably cause children to stumble while reading, particularly with the pronunciation.

I LOVE this book it is such a great eye-opener to all young dancers you can try out steps, find out how to tie your ballet shoes correctly, read a little bit about Darcy Bussels life

Beautiful books about ballet and magic and funny too. My eight and five year old love them!
