- S.C. Wynne started writing m/m in 2013 and did look back once. She wanted to say that because it seems everyone's bio says they never looked back and, well, S.C. Wynne is all about the joke. She loves writing m/m, and her characters are usually a little jaded, funny, and ultimately redeemed through love.S.C loves red wine, margaritas, and Seven and Sevens. Yes, apparently she is incredibly thirsty. She loves the rain and should really live in Seattle, but instead has landed in sunny, sunny, unbelievably sunny California. Writing is the best profession she could have chosen because she's a little bit of a control freak. To sit in her pajamas all day and pound the keys of her laptop, controlling the every thought and emotion of the characters she invents, is a dream come true.

Nope. Nope. Nope.
Are you fucking kidding me. First the not so subtle digs about abortion. Then the really not so subtle dig about people who give their baby up.
Fuck. Off.
I had an epic rant about this subject but deleted it because it would be like shouting in a storm.
Save to say I have very little respect for people who shame/guilt/harass other people for making a choice that has nothing to do with them.
Don't be a dick to others because you don't know where they came from and show more just because you would make other choices doesn't mean that their choice is any less legit. OR ANY LESS PAINFUL.
Sheez. Now I need some fluffy story... or to shoot something in a game. show less

I read a lot of amazon ebook samples, hunting for combinations of writing styles and characters that intrigue me. I read the Shadow's Edge sample...a month ago? At the time my TBR list was too long. So it had to wait. But it stuck with me. Turns out the whole book is like that. It isn't that the murders mystery is so deep and dark, it's that Liam is such an odd character. And since everything's from his perspective, Thompson also seems odd. Some things could've been better, more smoothly show more worded, particularly sex scenes. (You're never going to please every reader, though.) There's some telling where showing would have hit deeper. But I'm not just glad I read this, I'll want to read more in this world. That's a win for the author AND me.
Also, that cover. The way Liam sees himself, versus that. It struck me every time I saw the cover. We are often blind to reality, aren't we? show less

This ain't no scooby doo episode, and the creepy factor is real. I'd give it five stars if the last chapter hadn't felt a little disjointed and/or rushed. But if you're looking for a little haunted house time, this'll work!
I’m not a big fan of cozy mysteries of any genre...even M/M ones. This one was cute for lack of a better word. I’m not a prude and I don’t mind gratuitous sex in any books but I don’t NEED it to make the story interesting. This one was in the books that my “book bringing buddies” brought to me and it had a really, cute cover ...so I thought “why not?”. It was just a really good mystery with normal people who just happened to be gay... and that described Kip. There were mostly show more likeable characters, dogs (always a plus in any book), an authentic small-town feel, an interesting, but sinister plot that did its job of entertaining, believable tension between the main characters due to growing up together, and … no instantaneous "friends-to-lovers" stuff The only thing that I found in the book that was difficult for me to believe was that the author spend the time and effort creating this wonderful character of Kip and then made him the most clueless amateur sleuth I have ever found in any book. It’s a wonder there are any more books in the series featuring him. show less
