Here we are at Scholastic Phonics Readers Series number 30. Four children set up a pet bath, and dogs, a goat, and finally a bunch of birds get in. We never find out if the kids are charging or if they just like to bathe animals. The sight words are "little, now, and, our, big, can, dog, get, gets, in, Kim, Max, Meg, pet, rags, wet," our sound is short U, and our other sound is /th/.
This is Scholastic Phonics Readers Series number 29. Gus is having an awful day- one bad thing after another happens to him. Finally, he finds his drum and plays it and all is well with the world again. The sight words are "his, missed, then, and, at, bit, cap, Dad, fell, get, got, had, in, leg, on," the word families are "ub, ug, um, un," and "us."
This is Scholastic Phonics Readers Series number 26. In this book, Max wants a pet- any of a number of animals. On his birthday he gets a number of presents, including a pet (well, a toy dinosaur, which passes for the same thing to Scholastic, apparently...) Our sight words are "ball, book, fish, this, was, big, can, cat, in, it, pet rabbit, top" and our sounds are /g/ and /ks/.
This is Scholastic Phonics Readers Series number 28. In this book the children first can't find Nick the dog, and then can't get her to come out. They are surprised in the end to discover that Nick has had puppies! The sight words are "all, calls, her, look, at, best, big, dog, get, Max, Meg, Meg's, of," the sound is /k/ (like rock), and the word family is "ick."
