This rare glimpse into the heart and soul of Padre Pio reveals the profound spirituality and humanity of the beloved Capuchin friar canonized by Pope John Paul II in 2002. Beyond the extraordinary events that accompanied Padre Pio's life--such as receiving the stigmata--these intimate letters attest to his personal struggles, concerns, temptations, and fears. The book consists of two parts, each with an introduction by a member of the Capuchins.
This is a book of quotes taken from the writings and letters of Padre (now Saint) Pio. The first few quotes were kind of hard going, and I put the book aside for about... eight years. (No sense in rushing these things.)

This Lenten season I decided to pick it up again - and, strangely, suddenly the readings in this book had a lot more weight for me. Things rang true and made sense.

I'm not saying that every quote in this book is easy reading, or even that you'll understand them fully right show more away - but I think you should read this book. Whether you are religious or not, you need to read this book. If nothing else, the quotes in it will make you think very deeply over unusual sides of subjects you never even contemplated before.

This book is perfect for Lenten readings, or any kind of spiritual meditation series. I highly recommend it.

This small book has one hundred and twenty daily readings. They are all in Padre Pio’s own words, which will give you a glimpse into his personality and spirituality. Wonderful excerpts from his letters where Padre Pio gave spiritual direction to a large number of people. This is a truly inspiring book.
Gives outstanding insights and background into Padre Pio's early years and formation under his spiritual director Padre Benedetto and also Padre Agostino. The letters also offer the reader excellent spiritual direction for the reader's soul, much inspiration, encouragement, and challenge for the spiritual climb. Another necessary volume for the serious reader of St. Pio.
