I have never read any books in the Darcy Sweet series, but I see there are tons and tons of them. At least 30 books.
I love Cozy Mystery Series and I tend to grab any free books I can from Kobo. Also many Cozy Book Authors offer up their first books for free, to get future readers interested.
This book is a collection of short stories about Darcy Sweet before the very first book - although this particular set of short stories was not written until between 2012 and 2019.
Darcy has inherited show more the family "curse" which is that she can see ghosts. Her mother cannot cope with this and so she leaves her teenage daughter (Darcy) with her Aunt Millie. Aunt Millie is Darcy's great aunt - who can also see ghosts. Millie teaches Darcy how to use her gift (or curse) and solve mysteries.
The first 5 stories help Darcy get settled into the new town and school that is now her home. She has several mysteries to solve but they are simple things such as theft, grand theft auto etc. The last story takes place when Darcy is 18 years old. This one involved her first murder. The victim happened to be a class mate from school.
I also have a bind up of the first 6 books in the Darcy Sweet Series and I cannot wait to get into them. The "Early Years" Book has definitely gotten me interested. show less

When Darcy's neighbor is murdered, she is drawn into the mystery against her will when she finds the body. She tries to leave the investigation to the police, one of which is her sister's, but an overheard conversation and a small nudge from the other side has her investigating the murder. The stakes are raised when the murderer strikes again.
A young adult book. The mystery is very light-weight and poorly plotted. If you like to solve the mystery as you read the clues given are few and may show more be refuted as you read further in the story show less

I liked this book although I do think it was kind of rushed. The story moved faster than I would have liked. Also, Darcy had a tendency to jump to conclusions which kind of irritated me. She thought Jon was the killer and then she was kissing him and she no longer thought he was the killer. It was an otherwise enjoyable book.
The story was fun, and the characters were intriguing. Small town drama as you'd expect. The writing left more to be desired. The book repeated it self many times, as if we forgot key points in the investigation etc. as we were reading.
