I've only read through it, not tried to work any of the braids yet. It seems pretty clear, though I wish it went into a little more detail about how to do a double chevron (it gives a very quick skim of the technique (two paragraphs) then says "You will be pleased to discover how the threads cross over in the middle..." - I gotta do the crossing, tell me how!). The patterns start with simple diagonals, go on to chevrons and diamonds, then into more complicated lightning, arrowhead, Peruvian show more reps and cross reps, and variations upon all of those. Nice clear diagrams (though not for all the techniques), quite a few color and more black-and-white pictures of completed braids showing some of the possible designs. It also goes into some detail about how to keep the braid from curving round on itself, or making it do so if that's what you want (for a collar), and some finishing techniques. Overall a good overview of the craft, and I think it gives sufficient information on each technique to make it doable. I'll write more when I've actually done some braiding. show less
