Making Things: The Hand Book of Creative Discovery, Vol 1 by Ann Sayre Wiseman

This book has it all ... a well worded philosophy; easily read and understood directions -- along with pictures that make sense; and it faciliates myriad timeless methods of having fun, creating, self-discovery, self-expression, and self-confidence.

My copy is dog-eared and worn with yellowing pages ... yet I wouldn't give it up for the world. One of the prefacing pages states succinctly why I am so enamoured with this book:
"Ask Questions
Experiment in safety
Learn by doing
Believe in show more yourself"

Both this and volume 2 are available used, while a new edition (currently in print) titled "The Best of Making Things: A Hand Book of Creative Discovery (listed under the name Ann Sayre Wiseman) is available from numerous sources online.

I highly recommend all three, even in this year of 2009. show less
