On the recommendation of a book friend, I decided to pick up this story to read. Now, this is a new-to-me author. Not read the blurb. Cracking open the spine on the pure recommendation of a friend.
In the middle of a series.
Now, if you know me, this is a no-no in the list of rules for being a 'good reader'. But hells bells, it's summer, let's roll the dice and be rogue.
OH MY GOD SO GLAD I DID.
#TrueStory now I've picked up the rest of the series because >> hello - the storytelling is show more fantastic, entertaining and perfect for my hearts and unicorns HEA needs. Okay, before you roll your eyes and say "Yet another romance on the coat tails of #royal fever". Yeah not the case and you will be surely disappointed if you skip this author. So about the story...
Charlie is the perfect bad boy with a heart of gold. Yes, he 'shouldn't' do what he does, but seriously I'd let this character get away with murder because he is JUST THAT WONDERFUL. And Jane - she is everything - I mean EVERYTHING - I want in a modern heroine. Good head on her shoulders, isn't a doormat although life could force it, know what she wants and most importantly needs. These are the two that come together not under the perfect of circumstances but are simple perfect for one another.
Jessica Peterson delivers a story that is entertaining, never heavy - just romance as it should be. I am glad I said yes on a whim because now I have found an author that I know I will get more than just romance but heart and head engaged to delight my soul. 5 out of 5 stars. show less

This is a contemporary romance novel set in Charleston, SC and overall a cut above the usual fare of material in the genre. Olivia is a woman who seems to have it all; but recognizes that something isn't right when her boyfriend proposes and she hesitates. Instead, she decides to take a month break from her life and try her hand at writing a romance novel. Eli, her next-door neighbor and an accomplished chef, ignites instant interest... Both have issues with self-esteem and insecurities; but show more come across as very human and the relationship they develop, realistic. There is one graphic sex scene which may gave pause, not because of it exoticism (it's not particularly kinky), but it also brings to the fore some of Olivia's psychological issues. To the author's credit however, the issue is addressed and not dismissed with fantastical euphemisms or tropes. It's a solidly plotted story, well-edited and as a bonus, the descriptions of the food are mouthwatering! show less

Brand new to me author and I loved it. I wasn't expecting to enjoy this as much as I did. I thought this was just going to be a quick typical story. It was that but it was so much more. I fell in love with the characters, a city, and two fictional characters that were inside this story. I loved the writing style, the details, and the way it came together. Incorporating the passion of following ones dream to become a writer, tying in the many risks of doing it from all avenues of show more marketing, publishing, reviews, book signings, and even Facebook groups was priceless. Adding in adjunct teachers (I work at a community college so I know how hard that struggle is) was a great bonus too. Everything about this book was authentic and pure.

Holy hell. I just discovered this author last night and I am hooked. This is the third book that I have read and it is my favorite hands down. It might be one of my favorites EVER. I fell in love with Rob in the first book of this series and it grew with this story. He is a reminder that not all that glitters is gold nor does anyone truly knows what goes on in their mind. Aly was feisty and beautiful and had a specific thing that she wanted. Little did they know that might bring out the best show more in each other as they found it together. I couldn't help but picture this as a fictional Prince Harry and Meghan tale. While neither physically looked like the real-life Royal pair the love and feelings that they shared felt similar. The banter between these two was off the charts. The steam even hotter. When they kissed might have been one of the hottest moments I have ever read. Yes, it was steamy but it was so much more than that. It was real and pure. I actually FELT the butterflies and emotions as it was happening. It was poignant and beautiful and knowing that this author was able to replicate it from just words on the paper...MIND. BLOWN.
If you have not discovered this author before know I implore you. Read her work. You can thank me later. It is 5:00 in the morning and I am now off to bed where I will probably dream about that kiss and this amazing story. It is after all what fairytales and dreams are made for. show less
