Eric discovers upon arriving at school that he has lost his monkey, whom he'd intended to display at Show-and-Tell. His teacher and classmates each have their own idea about where a monkey would go, but in the end it is Mr. Pete the bus driver who restores the missing creature to Eric.

Although not really to my taste aesthetically - Ed Heck's artwork here is colorful, but I found it somewhat flat and unappealing - I did appreciate the ending of Monkey Lost, which undercuts the reader's show more expectations, revealing that the monkey is in fact stuffed, rather than alive. Leaving that aside, I also appreciated the many imaginative guesses Eric's classmates make, in trying to figure out where the monkey has gone. Recommended to anyone looking for children's stories about guessing and/or the nature of expectations. show less

Many marvelous monsters show off their special skills in a wacky talent show! Purple Pete proudly performs puppet plays in a plaid pullover, Swarly the squishy slug softly sings some silly songs, and the rest of the monstrous crew can do many, many more monstrously miraculous things. The silly (not scary!) monsters and their tongue-twisting talents will have kids and their parents laughing through each actt.
Really cute with great illustrations. A monster talent show that has each monsters page be filled with alliteration. It is a funny cute book that would be fun to read around halloween.
Marvelous Monsters is a silly little book younger audiences that teaches alliteration and colors. It is a bit short, but younger readers will be entertained by the goofy illustrations and activities.
