this was a very enjoyable read and I recommend it. I wasn't sure in the beginning when as explanation for the book, the writer wrote: "One dismal rain-soaked day in March, 1930, I set out from California with a party of engineers in a cavalcade of automobiles." But he does an excellent and colorful job of describing everything he sees and everyone he meets, weaving in some history that fills out the picture he paints without just a dry history lesson as so many do.
A collection of responses Bro. Harry Carr wrote to some of the many questions he received about Freemasonry, its ritual, and its history.
Not a book to read from cover to cover, but an encyclopaedia to dip into from time to time, or a reference work for those seeking answers to puzzling questions.
An outstanding book from an outstanding Masonic scholar.

Hard to find this important book. It shows a very different Freemasonry growing on the continent, rather than focusing on the 3 "Mother" Grand Lodges in the British Isles. I hope it finds its way back into print. I have heard rumors that this is happening sometime in the not-too-distant future.
