Can I say that I love the whole concept of this book? The book is written and illustrated as a personal diary. All the text is hand written and changes hand-writing from character to character. The thing I like about this book is instead of focusing on one character’s perspective, the author chooses to show the perspective of different characters in the same setting. She shifts from the little girl Lucy to the chair, to the spider and even the fork and knife. Each character’s diary pages show more is unique but they all connect to one another. I like the Fanelli’s illustration style of collage and hand writing as opposed to typed print. There is so much on each page that every time you reread a page you notice something different. My only concern about this book is most of the text is written in script. Many schools these day have an emphasis on keyboarding and script as become obsolete. I fear in the future same students will not be able to read this book. show less
I really enjoyed this different way to teach about the "Mythological Monsters" of ancient Greece. The illustrations are done in collage form with lettering done by the author. This created eye-catching pages. I couldn't look away myself. At the end of the book it gives descriptions of each monster, it also gives a small quiz with questions about the monsters. I really loved the style of the way this book was written. It is really fun and I can see this being a fun book to have in the classroom.
In each spread of this bold and humorous picture book, children can examine their place in the world around them through detailed and engaging maps that are drawn from a child's perspective.

Twelve beautifully illustrated maps, such as Map of My Day and Map of My Family, will fascinate children, teaching about both mapping and telling one's story. Perfect for the curious and artsy, these maps are a creative introduction to recording, mapping, and adding a unique touch to the environment.
I loved reading through this book. It is a great tool to interest students in mythology and show them some of the characters. It includes fourteen different creatures seen in Greek Mythology. Each page introduces the character, gives background information on them (tells readers why they’re famous), and includes an image of that character. The illustrations are quirky and strange and very often use real pictures of people’s eyes in these images. Loved it! Recommend it!
