1970 liberal AFSC opinion that abortion was OK. Although it tried to be careful and scientific this is just a reflection of the standard liberal positions. It does not delve much into the spirit. I agree that abortion must not be outlawed because history proves that leads to a violent mess. But the report ignores how violent actual abortions are. The report has a lot to say about limiting population growth and I agree that is very important, but this might not be a good way to do it. There show more is a potential of crimes against the spirits of the medical personnel and the mothers, to say nothing about the fetus. show less
This documentary shows the men behind the Minuteman Project and the continuum between official Mexican-American border militarization and vigilante action. It tells the story of border tensions from the point of view of those affected and reveals the underlying motivations of the vigilantes through interviews and footage of their nighttime patrols.
In 1968 the American Friends Service Committee began talking with Arabs and Israelis about their differences and achieving peace in the Middle East. This report has been reviewed by both Jews and Arabs. The authors made some judgments but they have been as fair as it is possible to be, searching for the most complete truth they could understand. Their report includes specific practical proposals for peace for the peoples of the Middle East.
This study shows the relevance of pacifism in world affairs. It is focused on the current international crisis. It begins with a survey of the same concrete problems with which any discussion of world affairs must deal. It is concerned with problems of security, the growth of Russian and American power, and the challenge to American interests presented by Soviet Communism. It recognizes the existence of evil and the need to resist it actively. It does not see peacemaking as the attempt to show more reconcile evil with good. It speaks to the problem of inevitable conflict. --Preface. show less
