At first, the bland, quaint, folksy prose got to me, but then as "Ned's" 60-year career unfolded, I began to feel like a dinosaur-nut kid all over again. A great book for anyone interested in American paleontology.
A nice basic text, the classic popularizer of its theme, it itself has stood the test of time and remains both an essential basic book for anyone's Paleontology or Geology collection and an excellent primer for more recent work in the field.
This is a very interesting book about the history of paleontology as it relates to dinosaurs. It starts with the British antiquarian who pieced together Iguanadon and goes on through the major museum expeditions in the Americas, Asia and Africa. If you're fascinated with how we learn about the past from digging things up, I recommend this book.
Lots of info but not REAL gripping reading. Good for the afficianado.
