- Margaretta Salinger had a long and distinguished career
at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. After graduating from Bryn Mawr College, she joined the museum staff as a special cataloguer in 1930. She went on to become a research fellow, senior researcher and associate curator. In 1970, Miss Salinger was named curator in the Department of European Paintings, and on her retirement in 1972 she was named curator emeritus. Miss Salinger also lectured at the museum and was actively involved with the Met's publications, including the Bulletin. She was a contributing editor to the 1955 Encyclopedia of Painting and the author of Michelangelo's 'The Last Judgment,' published in 1963. She was also co-author of Early Flemish, Dutch and German Painting in the Metropolitan Museum of Art and French Painting of the 19th and 20th Centuries in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. - Nationality
