About the Author

Roy Hession, a successful evangelist in England, knew he had lost the power of the Spirit in his life-a terrible feeling as he led his evangelistic campaigns. In 1947, Hession met leaders of the East African Church, which was then experiencing a sweeping revival, and recognized his deep personal show more need. It was like starting the Christian life all over again as he came humbly to the cross. A very inspiring book on what must be in place for revival. From this book and from accounts of historic revivals, the answer is repentance and confession. According to Hession, the first thing that happens when we sin is to try and hide what we are thereby losing our fellowship with God. "The only real fellowship with God and man is to live out in the open with both," says Hession. Spurgeon defines this kind of openess as "the willingness to know and be known." Although revival is greatly show more needed in the church, Hession believes this openess must be first lived out in the home where it is the most difficult to accomplish. Hession suggests that we find one person with whom we can drop the mask and thereby experience relief of confession to God and man and restoration of fellowship with both. From there move out and include others in this circle of complete honesty. This is not an easy way to live, requiring much humiliation and brokenness, but will bring about a freedom of living far above where most of us are. It may also do away with the need for the psychiatrist and mind altering drugs. show less
In 1947 Roy Hession had a life-changing experience. Although a full-time evangelist, by his own admission, his ministry had grown tired and dry. But when a group who had been experiencing true revival in East Africa came to England and shared the lessons they had been learning, his life and ministry were transformed. Those truths, which are the very essence and way of revival, are here relayed. For those really seeking revival in their own lives, and an experience of liberty, joy and power show more in service, the way to those blessings is clearly described. The book that has led so many into a genuine experience of revival will surely do the same for every believer who is truly hungry. show less
A companion to the best-selling classic The Calvary Road, We Would See Jesus teaches that Jesus be the center of every Christian life. Authors Roy and Revel Hession paint a refreshing portrait of Jesus, in whom all needs of human hearts are met.
Thought provoking. Makes me examine myself more thoroughly and frequently.
