A children's book to introduce Thanksgiving, both the seasonal celebration and the spiritual attitude. Very simple rhyming text in the form of a prayer. "Thanks for the special meal, and the loving way we feel." etc. Attractive, colourful, happy pictures. Suitable for preschool to grade 1. Nondenominational, suitable for Canadian families.
Touching account of the origin of poppies to remember those lost in war.

It also includes the poem “In Flanders Fields” and more in-depth information in two sections at the end of the book: The Story of the Poppy, and Remembrance Day in Canada, geared toward helping teachers and parents introduce children to Canada's history of war and peacekeeping. The book was show more nominated for Saskatchewan's Shining Willow Award in 2005, and for the Hackmatack Children's Choice Book Award in 2006. show less
