I used this book scarcity in relation to a social studies lesson that focused on scarcity and abundance. It gave a good explanation of the word scarcity, but was not super interesting. The kids seemed to understand. It used Beanie Babies as a toy that was scarce and my children had no idea what they were. This book probably needs some updating.
Part of the First Facts - Why in the World series this book from Capstone is described by the publisher as driven by kids’ questions about science. The question answer format makes it a good book for teachers to use in class discussions. This book is marketed for first – third graders but I doubt that many students in that range would read it on their own. A short book only 20 pages, each page two page spread features large pictures with a small amount of text. This book includes a table show more of contents, an index, glossary list of internet sites, and list of two books for further reading. This book is useful support for a lesson about Antarctica. It includes questions about the geography, animals, plants, and exploration of the region. It also includes a description of the scientific method and an experiment. show less
A great non-fiction book about the basics of Supply and Demand. Breaks down the information with bolded vocabulary and side notes.
