A much richer story than the first two I'd read - Yoko is dealing with family, and history, and Japanese history, and honor...The villain rather gives himself away at the crisis point; before that, he'd managed to project an image of ambition and patriotism. After that, it was clear he was just greedy. Good art, though there are an awful lot of similar-looking men.
Cool story! I picked it up in the library and read it standing. It's sort of a cross between Tom Swift (neat electrical gadgets) and Scooby-Doo (...if it weren't for you meddling kids!). More, please. I like the art, too.
Issue One of Yoko Tsuno has a freakin adorable drawing style, fun story that goes fast, and some really goofy jokes that I couldn't help but laugh at. It's not the most complicated story ever, and Yoko is a little TOO perfect, but I enjoyed it like whoa.
This is, for some reason, the first Yoko Tsuno story in the English translation. The fact that it involves characters whom Yoko and her friends first encountered in The Devil's Organ (the second book in original sequence, 8th in English)...is ignored. It's a neat story, with a scientific vampire and a form of suspended animation involved, and some rather complex emotional aspects.
