“City of God Stories” is a collection of alleged revelations by God, the Blessed Virgin
Mary and St. Michael the Archangel in New Mexico in 1622. I read this as a practicing
Catholic. The book begins with an Imprimatur of 1912 and a variety of comments of
ecclesiastical approval. Accepting the validity of these statements, they establish that
nothing in the alleged revelations violates revelation. If accurate, they constitute private
revelation that the faithful can accept or decline, as they show more desire.

Th stories begin with Creation, the battle between Lucifer and St. Michael, and
continuing from the Annunciation through the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Some of the narrative is drawn from Scripture. Other details can be considered as filling
in details, and some questionable. Maybe Jesus was led to a cavern during his 40 days
in the desert, but did Mary really exchange a series of messages to God before
dispatching an angel to execute Herod?

I found this to be an interesting read, parts of which provide religious inspiration and
others raise skepticism. Read, and form your own opinions.

Fascinating new edition of the visions of Maria de Jesus de Agreda in 1622. Today we are probably more familiar with more recent stories of Catholic visions or prophecy such as Our Lady of Fatima, but this is similar situation. This is an abridged edition, based on a translation from the Spanish in 1914, and it's 246 pages - lots of info here. Much is highly detailed and include some Bible passages. It reads somewhat like a Bible study from a Catholic point of view. There are a lot of show more fantastical imagery and description of "magical" events involving Jesus, The Virgin Mary, etc. Fascinating and unique book! show less

This was a really good and educational, it had many facts that I did not know about and defiantly informs you on a lot. I would say this is a very educational! I was writing down some notes as I read along. Overall, 4/5 stars I try not to spoil anything, but this book was amazing and very educational.

City of GOD Stories by Maria de Jesus de Agreda.
If the reader is Catholic, this is an interesting book. Not being Catholic, I still found the stories interesting. I would have to consider this fictional since no one has ever or was ever in the presence of God when Lucifer was thrown out of heaven. Scripture states that no one has seen the face of God and lived.
I love reading the Bible; I love the LORD. I would have to include this collection with other works of Christian fiction.
